Managers need a broad array of skills in order to be effective: lead their teams, supervise their environments, monitor performance and initiate strategies for improvement. In doing this, it is essential that they are confident enough to handle change, the complexity of diversity and conflict within their teams. This qualification addresses and strengthens all these essential skills required by candidates in order to be effective managers. It is beneficial for managers in all industries and provides opportunities for people to transfer between various specialisations within management. The qualification will therefore lead to the strengthening of management competencies that will enable managers at this level to successfully manage systems, processes, resources, change, first-line managers and teams in their various occupations and contexts.

This qualification is a Blended Learnership and runs over 12 months. Candidates will need to attend 2 days of face-to-face/ virtual training (on average) as well as completing digital content (Online Learning) each month. During this time, learners will also be required to complete assessments per learning programme covered.

Training will take place using the tried-and-tested benefits of instructor-led learning.

For large groups (10 or more), training times can be arranged according to your date and time requirements, delivered on-site at your premises or through a host company.

We offer a thorough pre-assessment process to align learners to appropriate qualifications and levels. Entry requirements for this qualification include:

• Communication at NQFL4.
• Mathematical Literacy NQFL4.
• Computer Literacy at NQFL4.

This programme is specifically designed to develop management competencies required by learners in any
occupation, particularly those who manage first line managers. In smaller organisations or entities, the
managers could primarily be responsible for managing the supervisors and staff within their section, division or business unit.

• Initiate, develop, implement and evaluate operational strategies, projects and
action plans, and where appropriate, recommend changes within teams and/or
the unit so as to improve the effectiveness of the unit.
• Monitor and measure performance and apply continuous or innovative
improvement interventions in the unit in order to attain its desired outcomes,
including customer satisfaction, and thereby contribute towards the achievement
of the objectives and vision of the entity.
• Lead a team of first line managers by capitalising on the talents of team members
and promoting synergistic interaction between individuals and teams, to enhance
individual, team and unit effectiveness in order to achieve the goals of the entity.
• Build relationships using communication processes both vertically and horizontally
within thecunit, with superiors and with stakeholders across the value chain to ensure
the achievement of intended outcomes.
• Apply the principles of risk, financial and knowledge management and business
ethics within internal and external regulatory frameworks in order to ensure the
effectiveness and sustainability of the unit.
• Enhance the development of teams and team members through facilitating the
acquisition of skills, coaching, providing career direction, and capitalising on diversity
in the unit.
