How much do you need to spend?
To achieve full points in Category 2.1.1.1, you are required to spend 3.5% of your annual payroll training Black candidates employed or unemployed on a Learnership, Apprenticeship or Internship. Please note that this spend needs to be allocated in line with Economically Active Population (EAP) targets. This will give you will give you 6 points.
To achieve full points in Category 2.1.2.2, you are required to spend 2.5% of your annual payroll on Bursaries at Higher Education Institutes for Black candidates employed or unemployed. This will give you will give you 4 points.
To achieve full points in Category 2.1.2.3, you are required to spend 0.3% of your annual payroll training People With Disabilities (PWDs) on a Learnership, Apprenticeship or Internship. This will give you will give you 4 points.
How many learners will you need to train?
To get full points in Category 2.1.2, you are required to train 5% of your total number of staff. You may choose employed or unemployed delegates on a Learnership, Apprenticeship or Internship. This will give you will give you 6 points.
We recommend using Learnerships to upskill Black employed or unemployed candidates as you will then also be able benefit from the Learnership Tax Incentive or Employment Tax Incentive.
How you can achieve bonus points?
To achieve full points in Category 2.1.3 the company or entity will have to permanently employ all the unemployed delegates on successful completion of the training intervention. For this reason, we recommend that you always try and include unemployed delegates in your training plans. Bonus points are calculated prorata according to the number of unemployed delegates that you permanently employ after the training intervention. It is important to note that rolling over a delegate onto another Learnership will not qualify the entity for bonus points.
